Going custom

Benjie Eldridge is our in house designer & artist, A local surfer with a Ba(hons) degree in graphic design. He can create any artwork you may require for your board, and you'll be hard pressed to find better in the UK. Get anything from simple technical or geometric designs like classic pin lines and fades to highly illustrative works or art. We can also print work onto decal sheets, these can be photos or images you may have made yourself, or something created in house.

Custom artwork makes your custom board even more personal and stand out from the crowd, perhaps its just for fun or something more personal special to you. Whatever your ideas or needs it can be done! so get creative or let us create something unique for you.

We can make you a mock up design to help you reach a solution for your spray (costs an additional £10 and is more in depth than the sketch), this is an example of a wedding gift for a English and French couple. Sometimes it helps to be able to see how the finished result might look. The end result being the one on the right. The customer made this choice based on the concepts on the left.

Sometimes a board just looks to good to surf, so why not have it made into a painting as well?! I was inspired by the materials used and started making artwork using the same processes as making a surfboard, its so different and as its sealed just like a surfboard, you can hang it without a frame and it looks absolutely stunning, also its one of the few pieces of art you can hang in a bathroom, wet room, pool room and even outside! as its completely water proof.

If your planning on giving a board as a gift this is a lovely way of keeping the memory for ever, or just spoil yourself and have something no one else does!

Prices depend on size and time needed to produce. Artwork created on canvas is a cheaper option, and created as your board is made, using the same paints and techniques, please contact for details.

Costs Explained

As you may have already seen, we have many boards on our Boards by design page, but below are some more examples and detailed images of some things we have done. Remember when your thinking about artwork for your board Technical sprays, i.e solid areas of colour, pin lines and graphical solid designs actually take longer than freehand artwork and require a lot more preparation and masking. Our artist is capable of creating high quality artwork that you may think would cost to much, when in fact it is often cheaper and the results outstanding.

Pin line and twin fades on the deck, following the process of the spray job. This stop motion gives you some idea of the process that goes into a simple pin line and colour spray. Most of the time going into technical sprays is spent on masking, if a technical spray takes 3 hours, 2 - 2.5hrs will be spent on this! especially when compound curves and symmetrical patterns are involved.

From left to right:

1) A spray based on a photograph, minimal masking time, mainly freehand, a spray like this would cost around £40.

2) Based on artwork by Designer David Carson, this spray is very technical and requires a lot of time masking, grey letters need to be masked after spraying to avoid overspray when doing the darker letters. All type is hand cut into masking tape that has been put over the entire deck. A spray like this could cost up to around £80.

3) Standard spray, no pinlines following the rails but the area of colour replaces the need for this. Nice classic straight pinlines close to the stringer enhance the overall effect. The coloured areas also have a crossed hatched effect by spraying through some wire mesh. Costs around £30
