Hey Adrian,
Just a quick email to let you know that the quaddie is going really well. I took it up North for our annual cold water pilgrimage and spent a week surfing it in a variety of different conditions. Have to say that it rides brilliantly and I am stoked with the way it has come out. Superb speed down the line and a nice easy take-off as well. It's going to be tough choosing between the twinny and the new quaddie now I'm back in oz but that's a nice problem to have!
We've just returned to Victoria and I've brought the boards back with me. The day we got back we went down the road to check out Bells and it was pumping with a 15ft swell at a 16 second period. Naturally I was safely tucked away in the car watching the experts but it was pretty spectacular!
Anyhoo, I've attached a photo of the new board in action up North. Thanks again for another great board and hope to catch you next time we are over in the UK :-)
Cheers Jon

Hi Adrian - it was good to see you on saturday... I have to say i'm really, really pleased with the new board. I was a little bit underwhelmed by it when i picked it up as it just looked so simple... I didn't take it out at Mawgan Porth after i left you as it was really lacklustre (i actually ended up going in for an hour on the fish and actually had a couple of really nice rides on it!!)
So, i waxed it up on saturday evening and once i'd had a chance to have a proper look at the resin tint and the glasswork i started to realise what a corker it is (big thanks to burt as its really stunning, the tint is really vivid but subtle as well which is great and the glassing is absolutely flawless) i went upto polzeath to check out the jesus classic on the sunday had a few waves on my longboard before it started getting a bit choppy as the wind kept changing direction - so i got the new one out and was just gobsmacked by how it feels in the water... It paddles better than my old magic carpet, is duckdiveable and - and this has never happened to me before - it picked up the first wave i went for with ease and i couldn't believe how quick and lively it was... it really flies down the line but you can cutback on it so easily.... Really really chuffed - i was actually laughing out loud... the waves went to cack pretty soon after but i was still picking up the mush and taking off with ease... Its really buoyant but still h as that bite that gives it a real feeling of drive. The forecast is pretty good here for the rest of the week so i hope it'll get plenty of use... I have to say its the most stoked i've ever been about a board after its first session as it usually takes me ages to even begin to get it dialled... a bloke stopped me when i was getting out the water to ask who'd made it as he thought it was a 'beauty' he commented that i'd never ride anything else now, I have to say i think he's right.
So.. Many many thanks!!
(on a seperate note, do you think if i sold my widowmaker and my other longboard (which is essentially the same as the dewey weber but less maneouvreable) and then either kept my fish or swapped it for something more traditional i'd have a complete quiver with a fish, the 'fastback' and my longboard? or do you think i need something else to be completely covered?)
Let me know your thougts if you get a minute - Many many thanks for all this Adrian... This new one has worked out brilliantly!
Best wishes - Dom

Hi Adrian,
Just wanted to say thanks very much really. i met charlotte up in newquay for the weekend and we had a great time surfing. The board is awesome, you've done a brilliant job. Charlotte really loves the board and i could see improvements in her surfing from just a couple hours surf! i am really jealous and i think i'm going to try and save up a bit for one of your boards myself!
hope all is going well, and hope to speak to you soon!

Comment: hi aidrian!
just wanted to thank you for the 6 4 swallow tail flyer you shapped for me.
ive been on the sunshine and gold coast and the board was sick, worked
amazing in the more powerful gold coast waves and even rode well at noosa on
smaller days, managed to get waves in amoungst the log boarders!! its sick!!
unfortunately my friend decided to run over it with his fins in bigger surf
and the rail and deck got pretty smashed up, absolutely gutted. i had it
fixed and they did a good job but was soul destroying as id only been on the
board 5 times!!! ah well. still surfs sick!!! was gonna enquire about the
retro fishes you shape, i had a go on a twin fin out here in the smaller
surf and fell in love!! ill be back in the uk in 2 weeks, would be great to
chat again!!
cheers henry

Dear Adrian
I am thoroughly enjoying the board that you shaped for me back in early march.
it gave me a chance to make the most of the summers surprising amount of swell and in mid August i took it to the algarve, portugal where we had plenty of swell from the weather systems hitting the UK. Also it has stood the test of time pretty well which none of my previous boards have done.
In late October we have planned a trip to ireland and have hired a house with friends in the north west, in county mayo which i am extremly looking foreward too.
Thankyou for shaping me a great board, i hope to see you again in the future.
cheers duncan

Well my man you have done it again. Had an amazing few days in Polzeath with lovely clean waves riding a board that looks fantastic and cruises down the line like a dream. I forsee many small wave days being turned into sheer bliss, and it's all thanks to you. Didn't get any pics I'm afraid but when I do I'll send them across.
Thanks again

Hi Adrian,
Just back from Ireland - mostly a work trip but had good Easky right (good size & offshore) and a pleasant left hand reef in the north Donegal so tested the board back and front side. Like it a lot. Catches waves dead easy, fast, releases a lot easier in turns than round tail bonzer, backhand top turns much easier, and my ribs don't hurt! My inclination would have been inclined to have gone for a shorter-based, more raked and flexier fin - but don't know what difference that would make? And its not like the Rusty fin seemed to hold me back in any way.
Thanks for a great board!
Cheers & hope all's well,
Dave.

Hi Adrian
Just a note to say many thanks for doing everything you said you would,
shaping, spraying and sending the board on time!
Although still in my early stages of surfing I'm picking up waves and this
board has brought me on ten fold.
Hopefully one day i'll get ten toes over the nose lol! Have attached a pic
taken on our apartment balcony overlooking Porthmeor Beach.

Hi Adrian,
Thaks again for the new board, I've taken it out a few times now
and have to say regardless of the conditions it just glides
accross the waves, even when its lumpy out there it just seems to
iron out the bumps. Keeping the magic carpet to 7 foot has given
me the best of both, manouverable yet it picks up waves like its
a long board. Attached is photo of me using this at st'andrews.
Say hello to Burt and thanks again for eveything.
Cheers Kevin

Adrian,
On my next trip to Croyde I will make a better attempt to get an 'action shot' of the new board...
For the record, and bare in mind that I'm pretty much a novice, the board worked just great. Up on it on the first attempt, was still able to ride the smallish surf that Croyde produced last weekend, while all those around me stuck with their Mals and longboards. Felt that I'd 'almost' joined the secret club - those who have pointy boards and nod knowingly at one another... I even spied another FluidJuice creation and struck up a nice conversation with it's very happy owner.
So once again, thanks for the time that you put into ensuring that I would get the right kind of board for my abilities (or rather lack of). It is just the right balance of challenging vs enjoyable. It is as stable as the big 8ft plus learner boards from the surf school, yet turns beautifully. It is now sat in Croyde (at a top secret location) awaiting my return next month for the second installment of my surf epic 2008.
As for the graphics, top marks to Simon who did a great job. Someone even approached me in the pub one evening to ask about the board, so it must stand out from the Croyde Crowds. And of course the target on it gives the lifeguards something to 'aim' for.
Cheers,
Ian Gilmour

the odd big wave!

Hi Adrian,
Hows things?
There is a guy very interested in ordering in a magic carpet in an 8’2” and was wondering how much it would be. He just wants a simple spray, either similar to the one you gave us with the rail spray or a nose spay.
We had a little surf comp last month and the Guy who won, James whiteside, was on your California Longboard that he bought from us.
I’ve attached some pics, it was monsoon rain, but the waves were small and super clean. All good fun.
Hope you’ve had a good summer.
